Sorry, nothing fancy like a banner or full times of the meet as I joined late and there wasn't any real theme to it, as far as I know. If this is the wrong place to post meet pics, please let me know (or move it to the appropriate section, please!). I'm still unsure where to post meet pics as it's not really a thing around here...I'm hoping this changes as more of these type of threads pop up. So if you got pics of this meet, please feel free to post them!
Quick Feedback:
Unsure who was hosting (I think it was Yello) so I won't go all out with the feedback. I also didn't stay for long to make proper judgment of how the meet went. I didn't have a mic so I couldn't be as chatty as I wanted to be and it made me realize how much a disadvantage those with no mic have. There's this guy you might know nicknamed Troops who's probably the best non-mic player I've ever had in my meets and upon seeing him in the very small but awesome selection of players at the meet (I arrived very late so that's understandable - oh, and this was on the 360 so that might explain a bit more) I tagged along with him. We thrust into one another, we stuck at the back of the pack and drifted with one another and it dawned on me how little groups can form in meets. There's the leader who connects with everyone, the teacher's pet who listens to everything the leader says, the usher who tells everyone to shut up when the host is trying to talk over people, the cool kids who hang out typically in the middle of the line and joke to one another, the back of the pack where photographers and slow drivers end up and then there's the no-mic players. It's a weird group, right? But it's such a heavy distinction and tonight I had a glimpse of that world...a world where you have to listen way more to understand what is going on, to talk to yourself as if others can hear you, have no say in matters and pretty much act like a moving object. Sure, you're in pictures and get to experience the whole meet but it's such a gate to not have a mic. I sympathize in a way for those who can't own a mic due to budget, anxiety or other personal reasons and I sincerely hope that all those with no mic can someday turn it on and tell us about their day, what they want to do and what others think of their car. Things we take for granted are a Godsend for those that aren't used to it and I wasn't used to not talk. I doubt I'll ever shut up but tonight I got a peek at the other side of the conversation - a very mute one - and it was interesting.
Nothing too amazing when I was there, to be honest. Typical meet, really - not that it's a bad thing! It's exactly what you want when driving around. We drove around in a formed line like we always do in offroad vehicles, I did rear-end two guys (hey now!) during the meet as I relied on hearing when we'd stop instead of looking forward. No big crash, just little bumps but I felt so amateur during those moments. Apologies if the red little truck rear-ended you! Yello whipped out a cool race for us to do which included a normal beach run but quickly changed into a maze! We had to find our way out and I was like, "pfft! This is easy and dumb"...but then I got in like 4 dead-ends. I was amazed that I had trouble finding the exit! Bravo, seriously. The 360, with its limited hardware space, is still very fun and gave me an experience that differentiates a little from the X1. Smaller lobby, for one, but simplicity at its core. We stopped for pics, got out with our phones out...it was like reliving a really hot dream except this time I was wet on a beach with 4 other guys. Despite being the same game, it felt nostalgic and I was happy to still go on the 360 even though I have a better game version on a more powerful machine. I honestly don't want 360 meets to go away - they're perfect for a relaxing evening and just hang out; what meets should be. I'll happily join the next meet!
I hope Yello keeps hosting these and if I can find a cheap mic for it I'll help him out by attending and maybe host my own meets once again.
Apologies about the size of pics. 360 pics seem smaller than X1 pics, weirdly. Of course, bigger file size but...yeah, weird nonetheless. Also, if the pics are too dark, right-click on them and click View Image to have a black background. Makes looking at the picture much easier. Website should offer black background option for spoiler tags or something but that's not a big issue at all seeing it's just pics during night time.
Pictures:
Selfie-tradition now possible again! I'm in love...um..not with that thing, I mean with snapmatic:
Dark pics due to night - sorry about that. You're not missing much, just a guy racing a truck up a hill:
Sandkings still king on the 360:
But others showed up to challenge it!
We were standing around with our phones OUT! Such a rare sight for someone used to the X1 meets:
Troops rocking the pixelated crew logo:
"I take good pictures, like this a-picture of fruit!"
"Serious? You want me to take picture of your face? Well, pay is good so why not?"
*throws up a little in his mouth*
No matter the size of a group, pics like these are what makes meets go round:
