ROUND 4 - the Palmer-Taylor Trophy.well finally we kicked off the 4th round. Numerous delays due to "double clutch gate", "Welsh internet famine" and "Yello Cactus: aka Mr Mo days off" have meant that this event has gone a tad over schedule. (edit cactus- did't we start it in 1984 ??)
With all that behind us we can now look forward to crowning a winner and most importantly enjoying some competition and friendly rivalry on the last 4 stages.
19/12/15we kicked off last night, with some changes, phoenix's recent change in circumstances meant that we welcomed Audi to the commentary booth. And what a job he did, excellent incite and technical tips, with honest feedback on the action and great interaction with the viewers via chat. Technical issues were a plenty as always and #audirage was present for this
Thanks you for this Audi, from prior experience commentary is not as easy as it looks. Myself and Cactus have been so grateful for the atmosphere and enjoyment the twitch stream brings and we will miss phoenix, but equally we look forward to the differing approach you take and cant wait for the next batch of drivers to run. We were left with the epiphany of how good a prospect of having Phoenix and Audi both commentating together would be !!! just think of the combination
So onto the driving. We had 5 runners last night:
steve dogg 51, itzreality, bksfatez, mr penguin and Pottyboy83 (for the reminder of the report i may refer to myself in the 3rd person, if i go to far and refer to myself at the D, O, double G at anytime feel free to shoot me next time im online)
In the standings stevedogg and itz reality, went into there final round holding 6th and 4th place in the overall standings . Reality's overall time after 3 rounds 29:01.411 and stevedoggs overall time 29:22.054. Both were hoping to put pressure on third place driver Ericzero ( 28:45.642) who will run later this week.
The racing looked like been a fight between the two of them. In the 1st stage a spin on the last corner by stevedogg, gave reality a 6 second early advantage and increased his overall lead to 28 seconds. Reality then added another 7 second gap on the 2nd stage, posting a great time in massacro on a stage the steve & the feltzer should have done better. In the wet the feltzer was faultless, and a mistake and slid down the bank cost reality 14 seconds. It was all square going into the last stage. Despite stevedogg finishing provisionally top by 3 seconds, in the this round. Reality remains Provisionally Top of the Overall standings (after 16stages). With Audi and Afiver, only really needing to turn up to fill the top two places in group "A". The pressure is on ERIC ZERO who needs to post a time of 13:18.581 or less to take 3rd from reality in group "A", BFG12043 still has an outside chance of the podium, if ERICZERO fails to beat 13:18.581 and BFG can post a time of 12:42.581 or less he can take the 3rd spot in group "A"
In Group "B" BFG12043 held a 1 second advantage on stevedogg after 3 rounds. This means BFG must post a time of 12:58.982 in the final round to win group "B" unless Jamiem52 can Beat him by 21 seconds, and post a time 20seconds faster than stevedogg's 12:57.982.
Bksfatez went into the final round in 9th place overall. And looked to cement his position in the top ten the with nearby drivers not running until later in the week.A Special mention to BKSFatez, who has been here from the start of the Rally on the 1st run of the 1st stage. Despite at times having little practice and freely admitting himself he is not a top contender. He has come back stage after stage and competed with enthusiasm each time. You sir are what the R.O.A.R Rally is all about, while the top places are important, so are all the competitors that battle for the lower places, looking to improve there times and driving skill. From Me and Cactus We thank you.
Mr penguin and Pottyboy both joined the ROAR Rally after the start. Pottyboy had his first ROAR experience in the 3rd round. Known for his skill in a sandking he found the conversion to the high speed corners of the redwood classic difficult, taking last place in all of the 3rd round stages. Better prepared and looking to place higher in these stages, he performed well in the sultan. And battled it out with his fellow sultan driver BKSFatez. potty held a 3second advantage going into the final stage but a mistake cost him and Fatez's impressive 4th stage time meant he placed higher. We look forward to seeing potty come back next season from the start.
Mr penguin missed the 1st Round of the ROAR rally, since then he finished, 16th in the 2nd round and 11th in the 3rd round. He had some impressive displays in the Redwood classic with two top ten stage finishes. Looking to improve again, Improve he did.
After a mistake in the 1st stage, he came back strong at the Quarry (stg2) obliterating, stevedogg and itzrealitys times by 6 seconds. He split steve and reality again in the 3rd. And came in close behind on the 4th. Penguin will be running the 1st round tracks (mckenzie) in the coming week. I expect him to be close to the top 8 in the overall competition here. And having seen his commitment and enthusiasm for the DIRT expect him to comeback as a Top contender for #season2.
So its getting a little complex at the TOP. It will all become clear when the remaining drivers complete there final four stages, before the end of the year.
TUNE IN NEXT WEEK. Watch Audi step out of the commentary booth and look to extract his revenge on VPHIL, AFIVER and Ensy (snr Buns RACE Team).
Eric Zero will be looking to take that 3rd position in Group "A" will the ice man crack ? . Jamiem52 and BFG12043 will be going head to head, putting it all on the line looking to topple stevedogg from the top of group B.
And if thats not enough for you, Cactus will be turtling his kuruma, hitting some tyre stacks, and hay bails
