What are some good tips and tricks for hosting a meet? Let it be a offroad meet, carshow, or impromptu meet? This is kind of aimed towards stevedog sense he's a pro at it, but any suggestions would be helpful for any new potential host.

Would suggest the first step is think of an idea or a plan. This can be a theme, a route, or type of vehicle or terrain. It can be based on something real life or within gta or anything else. Eg wet and wild - based on exploring the rivers. Military madness - I wanted to attack the base so I though of ideas and routes around the base. Fright night- run on Halloween, I found spooky places, plotted there positions and found off-road routes and climbs to link them up etc.
Remember time and vehicles when finding climbs and routes. Not eveyone is going to bring a sabdking - so make sure the climbs can be done in something different.
Practise your route, know we're you are going.
Find some good places to re-group and have pictures.
Don't make things to difficult- it's easy to do, but in a meet things have to be aimed towards not the best off-roaders but to everyone ! If you want to make a really difficult route I would suggest - just use creator and make a trail don't run it as a meet.
Would say once you have an idea give your self time to plan it. Don't prematurely run it the next day under the guise of "off road meet" - think of a title/name. Think of something to attract people to it.
Design a flyer maybe ( or use a picture to attract attention)
Once you have that- start planning again. A basic tried and tested meet plan be it car/off-road and bike is as follows. Meet up spot - the start. Make sure it is big enough for the lobby, make sure it is away from traffic (less cops) can turn into a cluster fuck before starting.
This is also a good time to have some voting. Voting is fun, people are more involved in a meet if they have to prepare. If there is a theme give them some guidance by - preparing voting categories eg best paint job, best of show. Most authentic off-roader. Be imaginative fit the categories to your theme. Eg military madness- truck most likely to be driven by a Middle East dictator etc.
After voting set of on your route.
Make sure people are in order: if it's a cruise or off-road route. Tell them to stay in line, give each other space. Don't attempt a climb u till it's clear.
When on the route always look at your map to see where the last player in the convey is, check with him/her via the mic that they are ok. Don't leave people behind.
Remember on climbs that the last people in the convoy deserve just as much opportunity as the the 1st few people to complete a climb. Encourage patience and picture taking.
During the route I suggest having frequent breaks. To get drinks.
I enjoy adding little mini games, an impromptu race, fight club, car surfing etc fine suitably spots on your route
Create some team races as you get more comfortable eg the suicide selfie race - Jump of a bridge, die, when you respawn run to your car, race to the top of chiliad, take a selfie - then race to the light house to the finish etc .... No limits on what you can do. But make sure you are clear, and that your explanation is clear.
Once you have an idea and route plan, mini games in place etc
Then promote your event, give your self at least a week from when you announce it !
Remember sign up is always best - work out how people are going to sign up and were. You will need GAmer tags and they must be your friends.
Make sure you set a time and offer time conversions for USA, UK etc.
On the night make sure you have the list of gamer tags ready to invite people .
This is the stressful bit - be prepared for server problems people not been able to join etc. I would suggest enlisting some help. When I've had server problems and people have found it difficult to get in, I have had up to 85 messages via xbl asking for another invite from players. It is impossible to reply to them all and still host the players that are already in the lobby and send out more invites. If this occurs think about restarting a lobby ( friends only) so they can just join you. Or postponing.
