For years we have been stranded on the island. It's has served us well, miles of terrain to cover, new routes, new climbs, new vehicles. But in recent months like any caged animal, no matter how big the enclosure the all-stars have felt the constraints of that island. longing for some expansion, and so started to look out to the surrounding seas and into the horizon.
For a small group of us, a ship appeared. A ship named forza, With promise of passage to not an island, but a continent. A new playground, not to replace but in addition to the old.
For those few brave intrepid ORAS, my self and Yello Cactus. Invite you to the first adventure in Oz, the continent that bought us, the kangaroo, bouncer the dog, the barbie, fosters and the immortal phrase "you flamin' galar" (Alf Stewart; home & away Cica1994)
This Saturday 22nd Oct 11pm BST
ORAS Forza horizon 3, off-rd challenge.
The task is simple, we start at the beach and head out into the new frontier. We face, water, rocks and some killer climbs.
We will need some preparation.
You will require, an off rd vehicle prepped for a crawl (tune 1)
Off road vehicle prepped for racing (tune 2)
The 1st tune is, a prep for the convoy and crawl.
C class max. As a suggestion, I would also tune as follows. Suspension, highest setting. All roll bars and bump settings soft. Differential - set to high on front and back. 50/50 split. Gearing. Max acceleration overall. Gear 1 - max acceleration. Gear 2 - nearly max acceleration.
Use these as your low ratio, climbs and rock crawl gears. Gears 3,4,5,6 are for cruising.
The speed limit for the meet is 50mph in convoy. But there will be times when we go a little faster and have fun. But speed is not important don't worry if it's under 100mph on the stats mine is.
Throughout the meet we will take part and compete in some, blueprinted off-road races.
For theses you can use your second tune. Tune 2 - race spec, any upgrades or tunes at B class.
If your not comfortable with tuning , you can download the community tunes. Or simply ask for help.
The night will also include, a livery contest. Design and paint your off-road vehicle in anyway you choose. The livery contest will take place in a designated area.
And we will provide an exclusive one off never to be replicated ORAS vehicle to the winner. (Hopefully)
Spaces are extremely limited for this event. First come first served.
The GOLIATH track is the longest in forza history. It's a mix of harsh high speed corners and long sweeping straights. Some drivers favour speed others handling. Whatever there preference, concentration, consistency and skill are a must. And hell that just for one lap.
Up steps yello cactus. And tells us we're doing 20, yes 20.
3hr 30mins of intense high speed racing action. I'm no stranger to long events and meets (come try the around the map in GTA) but this one takes it to a whole new level.
Through the event competition was often against yourself as much as other drivers. Sight lapses in concentration resulted in 20-30 second time deficits. Rain, darkness and sunlight all had there effects.
And despite 7 starting only 4 finished. Fh3 brutally kicks any man that want to take a break.
Race winner Yello Cactus
In last nights event, cactus finished on top, Dalton stuck it out to claim his reward. And after 18 laps of swapping and changing position. Magnum bested me.
We had a few dropouts and inactivity kicks. So with that in mind the next event, will incorporate a team challenge. Meaning that the battle for 10th and 11th place will be just as important at the battle for the lead.
Check out the Xbox live club - for detail and to sign up for next Saturdays
Saturday @11:30pm GMT
25 laps Any car in the s2 class any tune.
As well as individual spoils on offer.
this time it will also be a team event.
The lobby will be randomly split into two teams : the red team and the blue team.
Player will score points for there team based on there finishing positions.
Points are automatically counted by the game, and current points totals are live through out the event.
This aspect means that the battle for 11th and 12th place is just as important as the battle for the lead, extra incentive for everyone to complete the race and also take part.
GTA trails night. Sunday night
What a load of fun, my first play on GTA for a while. 8 player and 3 trails.
Great lobby, plenty of chat and banter. And I didn't even have to explain the rules once !
The first trail was an old one - around the map prt 1, the 2nd was a classic - vapid trails 2
And we finished off with the 1st off rd time trial.
Thanks guys for attending hope to be hosting a few more things in the future
